
Alyssa Thomas Named WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Month- June 2023

Uncasville, CT - Connecticut Sun forward Alyssa Thomas was named the WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Month for the month of June, the league announced today. This marks the third time in Thomas's ten-year professional career that she takes home Eastern Conference Player of the Month honors and the first time this season.
During the month of June, Thomas averaged 14.6 ppg, 9.5 rpg, 9.3 apg and 2.4 spg as the Sun went 8-3 in regular season action. With three triple-doubles in June, Thomas became the league's all-time leader in the regular season in triple-doubles with five in her career. In the Sun's 85-79 win over the Storm on June 20, Thomas finished with 13 points, 15 rebounds and 12 assists. She tallied 14 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists in the Sun's 96-72 victory over the Sky on June 25. On June 27 against the Liberty, Thomas notched 11 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
Thomas began the month of June setting a franchise record for most assists in a single game with 16 in the Sun's win over the Lynx on June 1. On June 4 against Dallas, she became the franchise leader in free throws made (693) and moved into third overall in games played in Connecticut Sun history (246). On June 15 against Atlanta, Thomas eclipsed 3,000 career-points, becoming one of four players in franchise history to achieve the feat in a Sun uniform (N. Sales, A. Jones and T. McWilliams-Franklin). On June 25 against Chicago, Thomas became the Sun franchise leader in rebounds (1,822), passing Taj McWilliams-Franklin who had held the record for 17 years (1,814).
This is the 10th time a Connecticut Sun player has received the Player of the Month accolade, with Thomas being just the third player in franchise history to have received the honor (Tina Charles (3)- June 2011, June, July 2012 | Jonquel Jones (4)- June 2017; May, August, September 2021) |Alyssa Thomas (3)- May, July 2022; June 2023).
Thomas and the Sun return to action tomorrow against the Seattle Storm at 7:00 PM EST at Mohegan Sun Arena.
