Chicago Sky News Release

CHICAGO - Chicago Sky's Courtney Williams was named WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week, the league announced today. This marks the second time in her career and the first Sky player this season to receive the honor.

Her first Player of the Week award was on September 1, 2019. She earned her first Player of the Week award this 2023 season after averaging 20.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game over three games this past week.

The Sky finished this past week with three-straight wins, two at home against Los Angeles and one on the road against Indiana. Against the Sparks on June 28, Williams finished with 21 points, nine rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks. It was her first 20-point game since July 2022. On June 30, she tallied her first ever triple-double of her career with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists. This was the Sky's fifth-ever triple-double in franchise history and the fourth overall in the 2023 WNBA season. With her career-high 13 assists and only one turnover, it was just 10th time a player finished a game with 13+ assists and no more than one turnover, regular-season and postseason combined. On the road, Williams recorded a season-high 28 points, including 4 for 5 from three-point range, eight assists and five rebounds against the Fever.

Williams is fifth in the league in assists per game at 6.1 apg and top-10 in defensive rebounds at 5.5 rpg.

Chicago travels back home to Wintrust Arena this week to take on the Atlanta Dream for a two-game series on Friday, July 7 (Commissioner's Cup) at 7 p.m. CT and Sunday, July 9 at 7 p.m. CT.
