Alouettes Sign Canadian Defensive Back Marc-Antoine Dequoy to a Three-Year Deal

January 8, 2021 - Canadian Football League (CFL) - Montreal Alouettes News Release

Montreal - The Montreal Alouettes announced on Friday that the club has signed Canadian defensive back Marc-Antoine Dequoy to a three-year deal.

Dequoy (6'3", 190 lbs.) was the first player selected by the Alouettes in the 2020 CFL Draft, as Montreal selected him in the second round with the 14th overall pick. The Montrealer played four seasons for the Carabins helping the team reach the Vanier Cup in 2019.

"I got the chance to get to know Marc-Antoine well with the Carabins and I am looking forward to seeing him play with the Alouettes, in his hometown," said Alouettes General Manager Danny Maciocia. "His speed, his fieriness and his football sense are all assets for our football team, on top his great leadership skills."

In his last collegiate season, the 26-year-old made 34 solo tackles and seven assisted tackles, on top of making three interceptions, including one for a touchdown, which earned him an All-Canadian selection and an RSÉQ All-Star selection. The former Collège Montmorency Nomade was also voted the Defensive Player of the Year in the province in 2018.

He registered an impressive time of 4.35 seconds on the 40-yard dash during his pro-day in 2020, which turned many heads on both sides of the border and allowed him to sign a deal with the Green Bay Packers last spring.
