Saturday was "Hawaii Night" at Hammons Field, complete with the home team donning "Hawaiian shirt style" jerseys. The Cardinals also stuck to the theme on the field, saying "aloha" (hello) to an early lead on a pair of two-run home runs, and "aloha" (goodbye) to the visitors, shutting out the RockHounds, 8-0, for their second straight win in the series.

Springfield got to starter Chris Lamb with a three-run first inning. Jonathan Rodriguez's RBI single was followed by Michael Ohlman's second home run in as many nights, a two-run drive high over the left field fence. Anthony Garcia led off the second with a double and Patrick Wisdom followed with another two-run home run, a virtual "replay" of Ohlman's towering drive to left, giving Springfield a 5-0 lead.

After the second home run, Lamb bounced back to retire nine of the next 11 batters he faced. The RockHounds, still down 5-0, put two runners on base with no outs in the top of the fifth inning (and had runners at second and third with two out), but could not score. After denying the RockHounds, Springfield took complete command in the home half of the fifth, scoring the game's final three runs. Ohlman added his third RBI of the game (and his sixth of the first two games of the series) and Garcia drove in a pair with a double.

The Cardinals "pitched by committee," with Kurt Heyer making a spot start and pitching into the fifth. Joey Donofrio relieved Heyer and went two-and-two-thirds for the win, with Jordan Swagerty and Ronnie Shaban each tossing one inning to complete the shutout.

Springfield clinched the three-game series, its second series win over the RockHounds in 2015 after taking two-of-three at Security Bank Ballpark last weekend. The Cardinals have also clinched their third straight series win overall, taking two-of-three from Frisco (at Hammons Field) between the road-and-home victories over the 'Hounds.
