Montgomery Biscuits News Release
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Arturo Reyes (2-0) pitched six perfect innings and the Biscuits (3-3) blanked the Biloxi Shuckers (4-3) behind home runs from Dalton Kelly and Josh Lowe, 6-0, on Thursday night at Riverwalk Stadium.
Reyes, who relieved opener Phoenix Sanders one week ago on Opening Night in Chattanooga, was flawless through his six innings of work, striking out four and keeping all Shuckers off the base paths. Reyes completed the six perfect innings on just 62 pitches, but was removed for Tyler Zombro in the seventh.
Zombro retired the first two batters he faced in the seventh to keep the combined perfect game effort intact, but then surrendered a C.J. Hinojosa single to end the endeavor. Biscuits pitchers have tossed three no-hitters in their now 16-year history, but never a perfect game. Tonight, the Montgomery staff came close, and still held the Shuckers to just three hits for a second-straight game.
After being shut down in the first two innings by Biloxi starter and Brewers number 11 prospect Trey Shupak (0-1), Kelly opened the scoring with a mammoth solo home run to right-center field in the third that put Montgomery up for good at 1-0.
In the fifth, Lucius Fox's RBI-double doubled that lead to 2-0, and a Kelly RBI-single made it 4-0 Biscuits after a double steal of second and home. In the seventh, Lowe crushed his first Double-A home run off the batter's eye in center to make it 6-0. Former Faulkner University Eagle, Ivan Pealez, worked a scoreless ninth for Montgomery.
The Biscuits will try to make it back-to-back wins on Friday when it will be Teacher's Appreciation Night and MAX Fireworks at Riverwalk Stadium. Josh Fleming (0-0) will make his Riverwalk Stadium debut against Braden Webb (0-1, 4.50) at 6:35 PM CT.
The home stand will also feature Mardi Gras Night and MAX Fireworks on Saturday April 13, and Jackie Robinson Day featuring a Kids T-Shirt Giveaway presented by AKD.
