Allen Americans News Release
GAME RECAPS
WEDNESDAY, DEC. 9 @ TEX (L 5-2): Things got heated Dec. 9 between the cross-town rivals when they traded punches during warm-ups. Americans' forward Britt Dougherty and defenseman Brandon Straub, along with Brahmas' defenseman Luke Sellars and forward James Heibert, received game misconducts for their pregame actions. The Brahmas scored the first four goals before the Americans could register a goal. Defenseman Ryan Fairbarn scored in the third to make it 4-1. Nino Musitelli assisted the goal to extend his point streak to 15 games. Tobias Whelan later scored his third shorthanded goal of the season to make the final score 5-2. The Americans are 2-1-1 in the season series with both wins coming at home.
FRIDAY, DEC. 11 (W 5-3): Allen got retribution against Tulsa in the two teams' second meeting of the season. The Oilers shut out the Americans 4-0 when Allen visited Tulsa Nov. 3, but the Americans had a four-goal lead over the Oilers at one point last Friday. Chris Kaufman, Bruce Graham and Jordie Benn scored in the first period while Graham and Justin Bowers added one more each in the second. Nino Musitelli had assists on both second period goals to extend his point streak to 16 games and Chris Whitley made 29 saves in net.
SATURDAY, DEC. 12 vs. LAR at 7:30 p.m.: The Americans won their first home meeting with the Laredo Bucks 4-2 after getting out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first period. Nino Musitelli scored two goals, including the game-winning goal to extend his point streak to 17 games. Justin Bowers notched a goal and an assist in addition to Ryan Fairbarn grabbing an empty-net goal at the end of the game. Whitley continued to look great in net, stopping 34 shots to earn his thirteenth win.
