Arizona Sundogs News Release


The Arizona Sundogs (8-12-3) concluded their season-long six-game road trip with a 2-0-1 record, picking five of a possible six points, and winning two straight for the first time this season with a 2-1 victory over the Amarillo Gorillas Saturday night and a 4-2 victory over the Tulsa Oilers (4-2) Sunday afternoon. Arizona fell in overtime, 3-2, to the defending CHL Ray Miron President's Cup Champion Texas Brahmas Friday.

Arizona is unbeaten in its last four games (3-0-1) having collected seven of a possible eight points dating back to a 3-1 win over the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees on December 5.

Sundogs Storylines:

- The Sundogs won back-to-back games for the first time this season with wins against the Amarillo Gorillas and Tulsa Oilers on Saturday and Sunday.

- Arizona is unbeaten in four straight (3-0-1) dating back to a 3-1 win over the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees on December 5, earning seven of a possible eight points in that span.

- The Sundogs remain unbeaten when leading after the first and second periods. When leading after one, the 'Dogs are 6-0-0 and when leading after two, they're 7-0-1. In addition, the team is 6-2-1 when scoring the game's first goal, something they have done in each of their last six wins.

- Defenseman Jon Landry leads the team in special teams scoring with 10 points - all assists. The fourth-year pro ranks fourth overall and leads all team defensemen in scoring with 18 points (4g/14a). Landry has 17 points in his last 16 games after tallying just one goal in his first five games to start the year. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound blue-liner ranks tied-for-fourth in the CHL in scoring among defensemen.

- Konrad Reeder is riding a four-game point streak (1g/4a) and has reclaimed the team's scoring lead with 21 points (8g/13a). His eight goals and 13 assists both rank second on the team.

- The Sundogs have tallied a power-play goal in five straight games. The power-play has improved and is 13th-best in the league at 12.03%.

- Arizona's penalty kill is the best it's ever been in three-plus seasons, ranking eighth-best at 83.44%.

- The Sundogs are one of seven teams in the CHL with a winning record on the road at 6-5-2, one game above.500 and are the only team below.500 overall with a winning record away from home.

- Veteran defenseman and player/assistant coach Chris Bartolone skated in his 1,000th pro game in a 4-2 win over the Tulsa Oilers Sunday afternoon.

- Arizona leads the CHL in minor penalties with 204 through 23 games.

- The Sundogs rank second in the CHL in average shots per game at 35.04. Odessa leads the league in average shots per game at 35.38.

- For the second straight year The Salvation Army and the Arizona Sundogs will be 'Doing the Most Good' by collecting donations outside the two main entrances of Tim's Toyota Center.

- The Sundogs will host their first-ever 'Teddy Bear Toss' Saturday night. Bring a new teddy bear or stuffed animal to the game and when the Sundogs score their first goal, throw the animal onto the ice. Donations will go to Toys for Tots and other non-profit agencies throughout Northern Arizona.
