Trenton Thunder News Release

Starter Brady Lail threw the first Thunder shutout in seven years to lead the team to a 3-0 victory over the Binghamton Mets in front of 6,998 fans at ARM & HAMMER Park on Saturday night.

Lail never allowed a runner into scoring position surrendering a single in the first inning, a walk in the second and a base hit in the sixth inning on his way to his first professional shutout.

The right-hander from South Jordan, Utah threw just 108 pitches and struck out four in the win.

It was the first shutout in franchise history since Alfredo Aceves shutout the Altoona Curve on May 25, 2008 at Peoples Natural Gas Field in Altoona, PA. The last shutout at ARM & HAMMER Park was thrown by Chase Wright on August 25, 2007 against the Binghamton Mets.

The Thunder offense recorded nine hits and grabbed all three of their runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Tony Renda drove in Danny Oh with a run-scoring single and Mark Payton followed him with a two-run home run to take the 3-0 lead.

The victory leaves the Thunder a half game back of first place in the Eastern League's East Division, tied with the Reading Fightin' Phils for the Wild Card.

Your Thunder will look to take the series from the B-Mets on Sunday night at 5:00pm. The first 1,000 fans, age 14 and up, will receive Thunder Duffel Bags and after the game, kids can run the bases; presented by TD Bank. The Thunder will throw RHP Eric Ruth (6-2, 1.89), the B-Mets will counter with RHP Seth Lugo (5-4, 3.45) on Sunday evening.
