
All Aboard the Brust Train...Reading Beats Toledo in Game 3, 2-0

Toledo, OH â After back-to-back one-goal shutout decisions the Royals and Storm met in Toledo for game three. The goaltenders had dominated the series in the first two games. Storm netminder Scott Fankhouser stopped 60 shots in the first two games, including a 32-save shutout performance in game one, as Toledo beat Reading 1-0. Barry Brust responded with a 31-save shutout performance in game two and posted 59 saves over the first two contests. Brust would be one of the heroes again in game three. The Swan River, Manitoba native posted his second straight shutout victory stopping 34 shots over the first two periods and 42 for the game as Reading beat Toledo, 2-0. The victory gave the Royals a two-to-one edge in the best-of-five series with game four taking place on Tuesday in the Sports Arena in Toledo on Tuesday.
After a scoreless first period, Reading collected two goals in the middle stanza. 20-year-old forward, Rob Hisey tapped in a rebound off a Mike Sandbeck shot three minutes into the frame to give Reading a 1-0 lead. Reading took the first two-goal lead in the series as Cail MacLean picked up his first goal on the post season on the power play at the 14:16 mark. Mike Sandbeck collected his second helper along with rookie defenseman Tom Galvin. The power-play goal marked the first by either team in the series as Reading was 0-19 in the series and Toledo was 0-15. Toledo held a 34-28 edge in shots after 40-minutes of play.
The Royals would hold off the Storm in the third period limiting Toledo to just eight shots and zero for two on the man advantage in the third period. Reading finished the game one for seven on the power play, while Toledo was zero for seven. Toledo finished with 42 shots for the game and the Royals posted 32. Reading was whistled for 12 penalties for 24 minutes, while Toledo racked up 11 penalties for 32 minutes.
The two clubs meet for game four on Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. in the Sports Arena in Toledo, Ohio. If a game five is necessary, it will be played in the Sovereign Center in Reading on Wednesday, April 20 at 7:05 p.m.
