
Mississippi Looking To Prolong Season

BILOXI, Miss. â The Mississippi Sea Wolves, trailing the Gwinnett Gladiators 2 games to 1 in the best-of-five American Conference Quarterfinals, will try to push the series to the limit and stave off elimination on the road in Game 4 on Monday.
Gwinnett took Game 1 on Wednesday 5-1 at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. Mississippi bounced back with a 3-2 overtime win in Game 2 on Friday at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum before the Gladiators grabbed the series lead on Saturday in Game 3 with a convincing 8-1 victory at Duluth, Georgia.
In the 2005 Kelly Cup Playoffs, the Sea Wolves are 1-0 at home, 0-2 on the road and 1-0 in overtime.

Game 1 - Wednesday, April 13 at Gwinnett Gladiators â Arena at Gwinnett Center, Duluth, Georgia
Gladiators 5, Sea Wolves 1 â Loss
* Gwinnett scored five unanswered goals led by Brad Schell with two, Mike Stathopoulos, Joe Bourne and Cam Brown had single tallies.
* Mississippi defenseman Austin Miller scored a shorthand goal, which was his first professional playoff goal and first goal of the series at 7:13 of the first period.
* Sea Wolves goaltender Phil Sauve stopped 44 shots in defeat.
* Gladiators goalie Adam Berkhoel turned away 26 shots to register his first professional playoff victory.

Sea Wolves 3, Gladiators 2 â Overtime Win
* Mississippi right wing Jay Legault netted the overtime game-winner 3:22 into the first overtime period.
* Other Sea Wolves scoring goals were Nick Greenough and Kerry Ellis-Toddington, both on the power-play.
* Gwinnett had two power-play markers from Rick Emmett and Chris Durno.
* Sea Wolves' Phil Sauve made 35 saves in the win.
* Gladiators' Sean Fields turned aside 27 shots in the overtime setback.
Game 3 â Saturday, April 16 at Gwinnett Gladiators â Arena at Gwinnett Center, Duluth, Georgia
Gladiators 8, Sea Wolves 1 â Loss
* Gwinnett goal scorers were Kevin Doell with two, Mike Stathopoulos with two, Jeff Campbell and Adam Smyth scored their first professional playoff goals, while Chris Durno and Kris Goodjohn also registered markers.
* Mississippi's Travis Lisabeth potted the Sea Wolves only tally.
* Gladiators outshot the Sea Wolves 64-17.
* Sea Wolves netminder Phil Sauve stopped 41 shots before giving way to Randy Petruk, who turned aside 15.
* Gwinnett's Adam Berkhoel made 16 saves to improve to 2-0 in the postseason.

* Gwinnett won Game 3 by an 8-1 final at the Arena at Gwinnett Center, giving the Gladiators a 2-1 series lead. Kevin Doell and Mike Stathopoulos scored two goals apiece to lead the Gwinnett attack. Gwinnett outshot Mississippi 64-17.
* Mississippi took Game 2 in overtime, 3-2 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. Sea Wolves' Jay Legault, who finished with a goal and an assist, ended the game 3:22 into the extra session.
* Gwinnett won its home opener in the 2005 Kelly Cup Playoffs, 5-1 on Wednesday at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. Gladiators' Brad Schell scored twice and had an assist, while Mike Stathopoulos had a goal and two assists and Cam Brown registered a goal and an assist.
* It's the second consecutive season that the teams have met in the opening round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs. In 2004, Gwinnett won 3 games to 2 in the best-of-five Central Division Semifinals.
* The Sea Wolves went 5-1-1 against the Gladiators in the 2004-05 regular season series as Mississippi took all three home games and had a 2-1-1 record at Gwinnett.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK â Defenseman Austin Miller has notched a goal and an assist in the three postseason games to date. The 6-foot-1 and 210-pound Miller scored a shorthand goal in Game 1 of the series at Gwinnett on Wednesday. A native of Vestal, New York, Miller followed it up by collecting an assist on the overtime game-winner for Mississippi on Friday in Game 2. One of only four Sea Wolves player to appear in all 72 regular season games, the 27-year-old Miller registered a career-high seven goals, 14 assists and 21 points in 2004-05.
GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK â Phil Sauve posted a 1-2 record, while starting in all three Mississippi postseason games. The 6-foot and 195-pound Sauve has a 4.66 goals-against average and .902 save percentage in 167 minutes of playoff action for the Sea Wolves. During the regular season, the 25-year-old Sauve tied the team record with a .923 save percentage, while accumulating a 13-4-4 record with a 2.59 goals-against average and two shutouts.
