Albany Devils News Release

BRIDGEPORT, CT - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers erased four deficits and prevailed in the shootout to defeat the Albany Devils, 5-4, Friday at Webster Bank Arena.

The Devils held leads of 1-0, 2-1, 3-2 and 4-3 before Griffin Reinhart tied the game, 4-4, with 12:34 remaining in the third. After a scoreless, seven-minute overtime period, Bridgeport prevailed 2-1 in the shootout with Kael Mouillierat netting the winner in the bottom of the third round.

Albany got its first taste of the new American Hockey League overtime and shootout rules. The teams were set to play 4-on-4 during the first three minutes of overtime and 3-on-3 for the final four minutes. A Paul Thompson goaltender interference call at 2:38, gave Bridgeport a 4-on-3 advantage until the 1:22 mark. After that, the game remained undecided until the shootout.

During regulation, Raman Hrabarenka led all scorers with a pair of goals and an assist. Steve Bernier and Scott Timmins also scored and Keith Kinkaid finished with 29 saves.

Johan Sundstrom, Anders Lee and C.J. Stretch joined Reinhart as Bridgeport's scorers. Kevin Poulin made 35 stops for the victory.

The game's first two tallies came more than 19 minutes apart in the first period. Bernier scored just 21 seconds after puck drop and Sundstrom tied the game with 1.5 seconds remaining before the break.

In the second, Timmins made it 2-1 at 1:34, but Lee responded with a power-play goal 34 ticks later. Hrabarenka continued the outburst, scoring 15 seconds after that.

Bridgeport Stretch tied the game at 8:33 and Hrabarenka put the Devils ahead on the power play at 16:39.

Reinhart's third-period tally was the final of regulation.

In the shootout, Mike Sislo and Bridgeport's John Persson exchanged first-round goals. Reid Boucher and Alan Quine were stopped in the second round. Thompson failed to convert in the third, opening the door for Mouillierat.

Albany, who owned a 39-34 shot advantage, went 1-3 on the power play and 4-5 on the penalty kill.
