Alaska Takes Utah 5-2

West Valley City, Utah - The Alaska Aces (29-19-2-0) defeated the Utah Grizzlies (28-19-4-1) 5-2 Wednesday night at Maverik Center.
Utah still holds the lead in the Mountain Division and trails Las Vegas by two points in the conference. The Grizzlies welcome the Wranglers to Maverik Center Friday and Saturday for 7:05 p.m. face-offs.
Just over five minutes into the game, a weather related power outage caused a short delay while the Maverik Center lights came back on. After the delay, the Aces built a 3-0 lead with the final two goals coming in the last 1:57 of the first period, including the third one which was scored with just under five seconds left in the opening frame.
"We're going to have to dissect everybody as individuals tomorrow and do video as a team and get this shop righted," said Grizzlies Head Coach Kevin Colley.
Utah made it 3-1, just 20 seconds into the second period as Brett Parnham knocked home his 15th of the year and the Grizzlies were back in it. Alaska though made it 4-1 early in the third and Matt Clarke (7) added a late shorthanded goal to make it 4-2, before Alaska capped off the scoring with a power-play goal 63 seconds later in the final two minutes.
