
Coleman Called up to Peoria

Alaska Aces goaltender, Gerald Coleman has been called up to the Peoria Rivermen of the American Hockey League, Aces Head Coach Brent Thompson announced on Thursday. Coleman spent training camp with the St. Louis Blues and Peoria Rivermen. This is his first call up of the season. Coleman will join Peoria immediately, in preparation for their weekend games beginning Friday. The Aces finish their road trip visiting the Idaho Steelheads on Friday and Saturday night. Coleman, 25, is in his sixth professional season. In each of his first five seasons, Coleman has played at least part of the year in the AHL. This season, in his first with Alaska, Coleman has been a workhorse. The Evanston, IL native has played in 36 of the Aces' 50 games. He currently ranks third in the ECHL in minutes, first in wins, fourth in GAA, and tied for first in shutouts. Overall this season Coleman is 21-13-1 with a 2.51 GAA and .901 save percentage. He was also the first goaltender to get three shutouts this year.
The Rivermen are the fifth AHL team that Coleman has played for in his career, joining Springfield, Portland, Worcester, and Lowell. In addition to his 81 career games in the AHL, Coleman also played two games for the Tampa bay Lightning in the NHL in the 2005-2006 season. Coleman was a seventh round pick of the Lightning in the 2003 NHL Draft. He is the sixth Aces player called up to the AHL this season, joining Daryl Boyle, Chad Anderson, Steve Ward, Ethan Cox, and Alex Petizian.
The Aces continue their four-game road trip with a two-game set in Idaho on Friday and Saturday night. They will return on Thursday, Feb. 24th, 25th and 27th to host the Las Vegas Thunder.
