ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Chris and Barrett Heisten scored 40 seconds apart early in the second period to snap a scoreless tie, propelling Alaska to an eventual 4-1 win over Idaho before 5,028 Sunday at Sullivan Arena.

After a scoreless opening frame, Corbin Schmidt chased down his own rebound and found Chris Heisten gliding down the slot for a one-timer and a 1-0 Aces lead at the 3:27 mark of the second period. Shortly thereafter, Barrett Heisten's drive from the left half-boards was mishandled by Steelheads goaltender Steve Silverthorn, who in trying to redirect the rebound into the corner, instead allowed the puck to travel up the paddle of his stick and into the back of the net. Colin Hemingway intercepted an outlet pass by Idaho veteran Jeremy Mylmok and rifled a snap shot past Silverthorn as he came over the line, giving Alaska a commanding 3-0 lead with 6:56 left in the middle frame.

Jarad Bourassa kept the Steelheads in the game with a power play goal at 16:34 of the second period, but Idaho managed just two shots on net over the final 20 minutes, one night after being held to three third period shots in a 3-1 loss. Hemingway set up Matt Shasby in the slot for a one-timer on an Aces power play that put the game away with 10:47 remaining in the contest. Alaska's 47th win breaks the record held by the 1998-99 team and with 98 points, the Aces have matched the club mark established last year with 12 games still left on their schedule. Alaska holds a four-point lead in its bid for a second straight division title.

The Aces begin a 12-day, six-game road trip through Salt Lake City and Las Vegas with a Wednesday night match at the E Center against the Utah Grizzlies at 5:05 p.m. AST. All Alaska Aces games are broadcast live on KFQD AM 750 and at www.alaskaaces.com, where all home games and selected road contests also are available on a pay-per-view basis, courtesy of B2 Networks.
