Las Vegas rolls a three

Victoria Salmon Kings News Release
Victoria, BC - The injury-plagued Salmon Kings hit the ice for game three against the Wranglers. Despite a strong second period effort, Victoria fell to the second-ranked squad 4-1.
Forward Marco Peluso was the sole player to score in the first period. On a Las Vegas power play, Peluso beat Goaltender Rob McVicar glove side and gave the Wranglers the 1-0 lead at 11:53 into the first.
Peluso added his second of the night at 2:08 into the middle frame. Chris Neiszner found Peluso open in the slot and he posted his 14th goal of the season and lifted the Las Vegas lead to 2-0.
Nearly two minutes later, a pressing Salmon Kings power play closed the gap as Tyler Shybunka pulled in a rebound off a Steve Lingren shot, and shovelled the puck into the open cage for his fifth goal since joining the club last month.
The remainder of the second period had little neutral zone action as both squads battled in the corners. With 5:09 remaining in the second, the Wranglers scored a shorthanded goal to regain the two goal lead. Neiszner moved the puck soccer style after losing his stick and led Dan Tudin to the net. Tudin slipped the puck past McVicar for his third goal of the series.
The final goal of the game and the series was an open net score from Victoria native Sean O'Connor with 22 seconds left in the game, during the 6-on-5 Salmon Kings advantage.
Victoria was 1-3 on the power play and Las Vegas capitalized on one of their two attempts with the man advantage. McKenna earned his 14th win of the season and McVicar finished with his 11th loss. Victoria out shot Las Vegas 36-31.
Note: Steve Lingren has tallied 22 goals this season-15 of those goals on the powerplay. Lingren leads all ECHL Defenceman in goals, and is tied for first in the league (with Sean Venedam, Bakersfield) in power play goals.
The Salmon Kings (19-34-7) face the San Diego Gulls (27-26-5) in a three-game series starting Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. Victoria is 1-1-0 versus San Diego this season.
