Anchorage, Alaska - The Alaska Aces (18-4-1-1) defeated the Utah Grizzlies (13-9-0-1) 6-1 Saturday night in Anchorage.

Alaska struck early with two goals in a 3:49 span in the first period. After Utah killed two early penalties, Alaska found the back of the net shortly thereafter and took a 1-0 lead 9:16 into the opening frame. After Paul McIlveen clanged a goalpost and then had a one-timer on Aces goaltender Adam Courchaine, the solid shift by Utah's number-one line ended with a penalty in their offensive zone and Alaska scored a power-play goal 17 seconds later.

The Aces sprinkled in three goals in the second period and led 5-0 after 40 minutes.

Alaska and Utah traded power-play goals in the third period as the third game in four nights with the two teams got heated. Paul McIlveen broke the shutout for Utah with 1:40 left in regulation. Justin Dowling and Logan MacMillan picked up assists.

The Grizzlies return home for six of their next seven games; starting Wednesday and Friday for 7:05 p.m. face-offs.
