
Akron Takes Advantage of Error to Rebound from Being No-Hit and Split Double Dip

Akron RubberDucks News Release
The Akron RubberDucks rebound from being no-hit 8-0 in game one to come from behind and take game two from the Portland Sea Dogs 2-1 on Friday night at Canal Park.
Turning Point
Akron finally cracked the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth in game two. Portland third baseman Matthew Long threw away the Aaron Bracho chopper to bring home two and put Akron on top 2-1.
Portland jumped all over Akron early in game one. Ceddanne Rafaela opened the scoring with an RBI single before Niko Kavadas launched a three-run homer to make it 4-0 Sea Dogs.
Mound Presence
Doug Nikhazy looked sharp in game two. The left-hander spun four innings of one run ball allowing just two hits and three walks while striking out three. Davis Sharpe followed with a scoreless inning. Cade Smith worked two scoreless innings to earn the save.
Jack Leftwich struck out the next two batters he faced after the four run inning before giving way to Shane McCarthy. The right-hander gave the RubberDucks much needed length out of the bullpen tossing three and a third innings allowing one unearned run. Mason Hickman followed with three scoreless innings allowing two runs (one earned) and striking out three.
Duck Tales
Connor Kokx was the only Akron batter to reach base in game one, working two walks to extend his on-base streak to 10 games.
Notebook
Akron's runs in the fourth inning of game two broke a 21-inning scoreless drought...Portland's no-hitter was the Sea Dogs first since Brayan Bello's no-no on 5/5/2022 against Reading...The no-hitter marked the first time Akron has been no-hit since 8/22/2009 by Thad Weber of Erie...Game Time: 1:47/1:45...Attendance: 2,842.
