AKRON - Altoona scored in the first inning for the third straight game and never lost the lead. Bobby Brownlie had his first start with the Aeros pitching seven solid innings allowing two earned runs on six hits.

He gave up a homer to Vic Buttler in the first but settled in for the rest of his outing, allowing just one more run in the second as Jason Bowers singled to score Dave Parrish. Altoona scored a final time in the eighth off of reliever Jim Ed Warden to break a 2-2 tie. Chris Gimenez had an error permitting Neil Walker to reach first, who then scored on a single by Jason Delaney with one out.

The Aeros put up two runs of their own with one in the third and one in the sixth. Argenis Reyes scored on a single in the third by Asdrubal Cabrera after picking up a single of his own, stealing second and then reaching third on a throwing error by Dave Parrish. One more run was scored in the sixth, but it was not enough to beat the Curve.

Warden picked up the loss pitching two innings allowing a run on three hits and striking out four. Dave Davidson got the win for Altoona not allowing a run on one hit and striking out two in two innings

Taking the mound for Akron tomorrow on a MLB rehab assignment is veteran Aaron Fultz. He joins the team from the Cleveland Indians and will pitch one inning before Scott Lewis (2-8, 4.01) takes over. Jason Roach will start for the Curve; he is 4-2 with an ERA of 4.20.
