Akron RubberDucks News Release

The Aeros made a roster move today, promoting OF Trevor Crowe to Class AAA Buffalo and activating OF Jose Constanza from the disabled list.

Crowe, who missed almost all of April with a back strain and then had to use May as a second spring training of sorts, was almost unstoppable once he got his feet under him in June. The switch-hitter from the University of Arizona hit .393 (55-140) in his final 34 games with the Aeros, while also collecting 13 doubles, four homers, and 26 RBI and scoring 36 runs. To put those numbers in perspective, Crowe was hitting just .155 (9-58) with no homers and only two RBI at the end of May. The former first round pick was the first Aero two ever win back-to-back Eastern League Player of the Week awards (for the weeks ending June 23rd and June 30th), and was the first player from any club to do so since Harrisburg's Dee Haynes in 2005. Crowe capped the month by winning the Player of the Month award in a near-unanimous landslide. For the season he was hitting .323 with four homers and 28 RBI, and also led the club with five four-hit games.

Constanza has missed the last 23 games with a left shoulder strain. Prior to landing on the DL the native of Santo Domingo, DR was hitting .293 with no homers and 27 RBI, while also leading the club with 15 stolen bases in 20 attempts. He opened the year in a horrid 7-61 slump, but has hit a sublime .347 (70-202) since April 23rd. He is currently enjoying a five-game hitting streak, including four straight multi-hit efforts.
