
Scram Homers Home Extra Innings Win

The SeaWolves got on the board in the bottom of the second inning against Bowie starter Chris Tillman. Deik Scram led off the inning, worked the count full, and drew a walk. With one out, Pedro Cotto came to the plate and connected on a two-run home run, his first, to put the âWolves ahead 2-0. Cotto was homerless in his career until 2008 when he hit three with Class-A Lakeland. The home run was his first in an Erie uniform.
The âWolves extended the lead in the bottom of the fourth. With two outs, Dusty Ryan, Cotto and Casper Wells each drew walks. Santo De Leon came to the plate and lined an opposite-field singe to right, bringing home Ryan and Cotto for a 4-0 Erie lead. Will Rhymes followed with a base hit to left, bringing home Wells for a 5-0 Erie advantage.
The Baysox got on the board in the top of the fifth against Erie starter Luke French. Steve Torrealba led off and doubled down the left field line. Carlos Rojas flew out to deep right and on the play, Torrealba moved over to third. Blake Davis singled home Torrealba to make it 5-1 in favor of Erie.
The âWolves went back ahead by five runs in the bottom of the sixth. Cotto led off with a single to right. Wells followed and grounded into a fielder's choice with Cotto retired at second. De Leon followed a lined a double off the wall in left. Wells scored from first on the play to put Erie up 6-1.
The Baysox battled back to tie the ballgame in the top of the eighth against reliever Matt Rusch. After retiring the first two batters of the inning, Rusch issued a two-out walk to Jonathan Tucker. Sebastien Boucher singled to put runners on the corners for Lou Montanez. Montanez singled home Tucker to make it a 6-2 game. Reimold singled to right to bring home Boucher to make it 6-3. With two on base, Matt Wieters connected on an opposite-field three-run home run, his fifth, to tie the game at 6-6.
The game remained tied into the bottom of the 10th inning. The Baysox would bring in reliever Ryan Keefer. Scram stepped in to lead off the inning and on the first pitch of the at bat, Scram slammed his eighth home run of the season. The solo-shot gave Erie the 7-6 win.
Casey Fien picked up the win, improving to 3-3 on the season. Fien worked a perfect top of the 10th.
French took a no-decision for Erie. He went seven innings, allowing a run on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts. It was the second consecutive quality start for French, but he has taken back-to-back no-decisions.
