Texas AirHogs News Release

RAND PRAIRIE, Texas - The AirHogs split a doubleheader with the Sioux Falls Canaries Saturday at AirHogs Stadium, falling 6-1 in Game 1 before getting their revenge with a 6-1 win of their own. Burt Reynolds and Cody Lenahan each went deep to power the Game 2 victory. The Sioux Falls Canaries jumped out to an early lead in Game 1 by tagging AirHogs starter Sam Martin for 6 runs over the first 4 innings. A key 2-RBI double by Michael Falsetti in the 2nd and a 3-RBI triple by Blake Schmit in the 4th helped the team build an early lead it would not squander.

Devon Rodriguez scored the AirHogs' only run of the game on an infield single by Nick Akins in the bottom of the 4th. Martin suffered the loss, his 5th, while Canaries starter Kris Regas held the AirHogs to 6 hits over 7 innings to notch his 4th W.

Carlos Misell made his 29th appearance and 1st start of the season in Game 2. The righty was terrific for the AirHogs, holding Sioux Falls scoreless over the 1st 5 frames and allowing just 1 run while lasting 6 total to earn his 2nd win of the season.

The offense got going in the 2nd with a triple by Michael Hur off Canaries starter Shawn Blackwell. Hur scored on a wild pitch to give the team an early 1-0 lead.

The AirHogs piled on in the 3rd. Burt Reynolds launched a 2-out home run to extend the lead to 3-0, and Cody Lenahan followed 3 batters later with a 3-run blast of his own. The homer was the 20th of the season for the American Association leader Reynolds, and the 7th of the season for Lenahan.

The AirHogs (22-39) and the Canaries (21-39) conclude their series tomorrow at 2:05. LHP Griffin Russell is expected to start for the AirHogs.
