
EXPLORERS FALL TO REDHAWKS ON WALK-OFF HOMER

Fargo, ND- The Sioux City Explorers put up six clutch runs to tie the game in ninth inning, but would fall to Fargo-Moorhead (7-6) on a walk-off home run by K.D. Kang in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Fargo-Moorhead recorded their first runs of the game in the second inning. With a runner at second base, Brian Humphries smashed a two-run homer, giving the RedHawks the early 2-0 lead.
In the seventh inning, Fargo-Moorhead added two more runs. RedHawks centerfielder Kes Carter tripled to score a run. Carter later scored on a sacrifice-fly by Keury De La Cruz to extend their lead to four runs.
The RedHawks scored two more runs on the night. Bryan Johns knocked in two runs with an RBI double, giving them the 6-0 lead.
Sioux City came in clutch in the ninth inning, scoring six runs to tie the game at 6-6. The Explorers plated their first run of the inning on an error by the shortstop. With the bases loaded, Ralph Henriquez cleared the bases with an RBI double. Matt Koch knocked in Henriquez with a single to cut the lead to a lone run. With a runner at second and two outs, X's right fielder Michael Lang ripped a double down the line to score the runner at second and tie the game at 6-6.
In the bottom of the ninth inning, RedHawks right fielder K.D. Kang smashed a two out, full count, walk-off home run to earn the exciting 7-6 victory over Sioux City.
RedHawks starter Taylor Stanton (4-4) finished with a no decision, pitching a solid five scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Left-hander Will Mathis (1-3) struggled on the mound, allowing three runs in only one inning, but would receive the win on the night.
Explorers right-hander Ryan Zimmerman (2-8) had a no decision on the night, going six innings with two runs allowed and four strikeouts. X's reliever Rob Wort (2-3) was charged with the loss, giving up the walk-off home run to K.D. Kang.
