
AirHogs Downed in Opener vs. Laredo

AMARILLO, Texas - The AirHogs dropped the opener of a 4-game set to the Laredo Lemurs 15-6 at Potter County Memorial Stadium on Thursday. Austin Gallagher went deep, scored twice and drove in 3 in the loss.
The Lemurs got to AirHogs starter Griffin Russell for 6 runs in the 2nd. The offensive explosion was keyed by home runs off the bats of Leandro Castro and Cesar Valera. The AirHogs got 2 back in the bottom of the 2nd on an RBI double by Mike Miller and a sac fly by Gallagher.
Laredo tagged Russell for 4 more in the 3rd and the 4th. 6 of the 10 runs allowed by Russell were earned. The AirHogs committed a season-high 8 errors defensively.
Gallagher led off the 5th with a home run, and picked up an RBI and a run scored in a 3-run 6th. The rally cut the Laredo lead down to 10-6.
But in the 7th, the visitors tagged David Wayne Russo and Roman Madrid for 3 runs on 3 hits, 3 errors, 2 walks, a hit-by-pitch, a wild pitch and a balk. The Lemurs were led by Castro, Valera, and Drew Martinez, who combined to drive in 9 of the 15 runs.
Russell absorbed his 6th loss of the season, while Troy Marks, who allowed 5 runs over 5 â..." innings, picked up his 2nd win.
The AirHogs (19-28) and the Lemurs (27-20) battle again tomorrow at 7:05 pm. RHP Sam Martin is expected to start for the AirHogs.
