Kansas City Monarchs News Release
GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - The Kansas City T-Bones gave up three home runs, including two in the first inning, and dropped their first game of a six-game road trip, 7-5, against Grand Prairie in front of 5,298 at QuickTrip Park on Tuesday afternoon.
The AirHogs took advantage of three early Kansas City defensive miscues and jumped out quickly, 4-0, in the first two innings. But the T-Bones rallied in the fourth. Devin Goodwin got Kansas City on the scoreboard with a one-out sacrifice fly to right field that scored Matt Padgett, who opened the inning with a double. The inning was capped by a two-run, two out double by Felix Molina, who tied the game when he scampered home on a stolen base and wild pitch.
In the seventh inning, the AirHogs took the lead for good when Aaron King blasted a three-run homer off Kansas City reliever Jose Jimenez that gave Grand Prairie a 7-4 lead.
Shaun Garceau (0-2) started for Kansas City, and worked 5 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on eight hits. Dustin Loggins, who came in with one out in the seventh, struck out four of the five batters he faced.
Molina added his second double of the game in the ninth, and scored on a Justin Bass single. Molina went three-for-four in the game, with two RBIs and two runs scored.
The road trip continues Wednesday at 10:35 a.m., with Aaron Meade (1-1) scheduled to start for Kansas City and Derek Blacksher (0-2) for Grand Prairie. The live broadcast can be heard online at tbonesbaseball.com or on 1660-AM in Kansas City.
