AKRON, OH - Second baseman Ryan Rohlinger slugged an opposite-field, three-run home run in the third inning Monday night, helping the Akron Aeros to a 6-3 win over the Bowie Baysox in the opening game of a three-game series at Canal Park.

Rohlinger's homer, his second of the season, came off Baysox starter Bobby Bundy (1-2) in the third inning, and gave the Aeros a 4-0 lead. After singles by Jared Goedert and Adam Abraham, Rohlinger drove a pitch into the right field bleachers. He now has five RBI's on the season.

The Aeros (7-3) have won four of five games on the current homestand.

Righthander Bryce Stowell (1-0) picked up the win in relief for the Aeros. Stowell came on in the fourth inning after Akron starter Toru Murata gave up back-to-back hits to lead off the inning. Stowell fanned the first hitter he faced, but yielded a two-run single to Bowie shortstop Manny Machado to make it 4-2.

Stowell settled down after that striking out seven batters over three innings to pick up his first win of the season.

The Aeros picked up two more runs off Bundy in the fifth, when Chun Chen doubled and scored from second on a wild pitch. Abraham later scored on a fielding error by Machado.

Goedert, Chen and Abraham all had two hits for the Aeros, who collected 10 hits on the night. Righthander Cody Allen chipped in two scoreless innings of relief, following Stowell to the mound.

Brandon Waring belted a solo homer in the ninth for the Baysox (4-8).

The Aeros and Baysox will continue their series on Tuesday night at 7:05. Lefty T.J. McFarland will start for Akron against Bowie's Jacob Petit.
