Aeros Shutout Bulldogs, Post 2-0 Win

Houston, TX - The Houston Aeros (36-24-5-5, 82 points) defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs (28-36-1-5, 62 points) 2-0 on Sunday in front of 9,428 fans at Toyota Center. Houston goalie Jeff Deslauriers (1-0-0) made his season debut, stopping all 22 Bulldogs shots for the team's fifth shutout of the season. Aeros forwards Nick Petersen and Dan DaSilva each scored for the team's third straight win. Hamilton goalie Peter Mayer (15-16-3) stopped 27 of 29 Houston shots in the loss. The Aeros will host Oklahoma City at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday at Toyota Center.
The Aeros claimed a 1-0 lead with the first period's only goal. Dan DaSilva opened the scoring, putting in a rebound off a Zack Phillips scoring chance. DaSilva's fifth goal of the season was also assisted by defenseman Marco Scandella at 8:41.
After a scoreless second period, Houston sealed the victory with its second goal of the evening. Center Jake Dowell slipped a pass to the Hamilton slot for Nick Petersen. With a backhand shot, Petersen scored to make it 2-0 Aeros. Forward Stephane Veilleux added an assist on Petersen's sixth goal of the season.
Houston continues a ten-game home stand at Toyota Center on Wednesday with the Oklahoma City Barons at 7:05 p.m. The team continues the home stand with San Antonio on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. The game marks a "Thirsty Thursday", where fans (21 and older) receive a "second drink free coupon" for The Maple Leaf Pub (Smith and Elgin). The first 500 fans to The Maple Leaf Pub after the game will be able to redeem their coupon for their second drink free.
