Aeros Place Goedert on DL; Activate Graham

July 29, 2009 - Eastern League (EL1)
Akron RubberDucks News Release

The Aeros made a roster move today, placing IF Jared Goedert on the disabled list (retroactive to 7/27) with lower back tightness and activating RHP Connor Graham, who was acquired from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for Rafael Betancourt July 23rd.

This is Goedert's second trip to the DL this season, as Akron's opening day third baseman previously missed 17 games April 14th-May 4th with a strained right oblique. Goedert originally injured his back in a game against Bowie July 18th, exiting that game early and sitting out the next six contests before coming back and going 0-4 Saturday night against Altoona. The native of Concordia, KS is hitting .235 with four homers and 28 RBI this season.

Graham is making his Double-A debut this evening after going 7-4 with a 3.14 ERA in 16 starts for the Modesto Nuts of the Class A-Advanced California League. A native of Bowling Green who played his college baseball at Miami (OH) University, Graham notched 87 strikeouts in just 80.1 innings, while issuing 41 walks and holding opponents to a .225 batting average against. He will wear #52.
