Akron RubberDucks News Release

The Cleveland Indians announced Friday that righthanders Danny Salazar and Trey Haley have been promoted to the Akron Aeros from the Single-A Carolina Mudcats. Both players will be in uniform for Friday evening's Aeros game at Manchester, New Hampshire.

Salazar, 22, is a member of the Tribe's 40-man roster. In 16 starts with the Mudcats this season, he is 1-2, 2.68. In 53 2/3 innings, Salazar has 53 strikeouts and 19 walks. This is his first full season since undergoing Tommy John surgery in August of 2010. He was limited to eight starts at the Class-A level last season, and then threw an additional 41 innings in winter ball.

Haley, 22, was the Tribe's 2nd round pick in 2008 out of Central Heights High in Nacogdoches, Texas. Haley has pitched in 12 games for the Mudcats, all in relief, going 0-0, 1.04. Haley has fanned 16 and walked six in 17 1/3 innings. He missed approximately six weeks (5/30-7/13) after undergoing surgery to repair a hernia. Haley's curveball has been rated by scouts and managers as the best in the Indians minor league system.

Both players will be making their first appearance at the Double-A level.
