Aeors Make Two Roster Changes

HOUSTON - Houston Aeros President and General Manager Dave Barr announced today center Rickard Wallin (RIH-kahrd WAHL-in) has been assigned to Houston from the Minnesota Wild (National Hockey League). Also, goaltender Derek Gustafson was assigned to the Louisiana IceGators (East Coast Hockey League).

Wallin, 22, began the season with Houston and tallied seven goals and 13 assists for 20 points in 24 games. He was recalled to Minnesota on Dec. 11, 2002 and made his NHL debut the next night. In his first NHL game, Wallin scored the game-winning goal in the Wild's win over the Detroit Red Wings. The Stockholm, Sweden-native injured his hand on Dec. 17 and has missed the past six weeks. He is meeting the Aeros in Chicago and is expected to play tonight.

Gustafson, 23, had played in 26 games with Houston. He posted 16 wins, seven losses and two ties and had a goals-against-average of 2.58. The Gresham, Oregon-native participated in his first AHL All-Star Game last weekend. In 2001-02, Gustafson played in 38 games with the Aeros. He recorded 14 wins, 13 losses and six ties. He spent the majority of his rookie season with Cleveland (International Hockey League). He went 14-7-1 with the Lumberjacks and made his NHL debut with Minnesota. In four NHL games during the 2000-01 season, Gustafson collected one win and three losses.

Houston visits the Chicago Wolves tonight before returning home to host the Milwaukee Admirals on Sunday at 5:00 PM.
