Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI--Viktor Arvidsson scored a pair of power-play goals to help the Milwaukee Admirals to set a new franchise record with their 10th straight victory in a 6-3 win over the San Antonio Rampage Tuesday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
The record breaks the mark of nine-straight that was set last January.
The goals for Arvidsson give him a 13-game point streak, which is the longest in the AHL this season and the longest by an Admirals since Mike Santorelli had a 14-gamer back in the 2009-10 season.
For the first time in the Admirals past five games it was their opponent who got on the scoreboard first. San Antonio Marc-Andre Cliche deflected a Maxim Noreau shot past Milwaukee netminder Juuse Saros 7:21 into the game.
That lead did not last long as Arvidsson got his first of the night with just 3:15 to go in the period to knot the game at one. With Milwaukee on a 4-on-3 power-play, Vladislav Kamenev won the draw back to Taylor Aronson, who set up Arvidsson for a one-timer that beat Rampage goalie Calvin Pickard high stick side.
Just 2:20 later Arvidsson struck again on the power-play, this time off a beautiful pass from Kamenev that drew Pickard out of position and left Arvidsson alone in the left circle with a wide open net.
Pontus Aberg would pumped the Milwaukee lead to 3-1 when Felix Girard feathered a deft pass over the crease to Aberg on the right post just 3:05 into the second.
San Antonio drew back within one on Coma Rendulic's second goal of the year just 46 seconds later, but Milwaukee Captain Colton Sissons fired a one-timer by Pickard and it was back up to a two-goal lead at 4-2 midway through the game.
Another goal by Rendulic with less than a minute to play in the second brought the score to 4-3 after two periods.
Any thought of a San Antonio comeback were snuffed out when Felix Girard and Conor Allen scored less than a minute apart to give Milwaukee a 6-3 lead. It was the first goal of the season for both players and tied the Admirals season high for goals in a game.
Arvidsson's two goals led four Admirals with two-point nights. Taylor Aronson (2a), Girard (1g-1a), and Kamenev (2a) also posted two points.
Saros stopped 18 shots to earn his seventh straight win.
Milwaukee will look for number 11 when they host the Grand Rapids Griffins on Friday night at 7 pm at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
