
Gibson and Mueller Recalled by Anaheim

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls announced today that goaltender John Gibson and center Chris Mueller have been recalled by the Anaheim Ducks, San Diego's National Hockey League affiliate. Additionally, center Michael Sgarbossa and defenseman Shane O'Brien have been reassigned to the Gulls by Anaheim. Goaltender Ryan Faragher has been recalled from Utah, San Diego's ECHL affiliate, while defenseman Shayne Taker (Utah), left wing Ryan Walters (Utah) and left wing Kyle Bonis (Toledo) have all signed professional try-out (PTO) contracts with San Diego.
Gibson, 22 (7/14/93), has appeared in 13 games with San Diego this season, going 7-4-1 with one shutout, a 2.63 goals-against-average (GAA) and .917 save-percentage (SV%). At the time of his recall, Gibson ranked second in minutes played, tied for second in shootout wins (2), tied for sixth in wins. The 6-3, 226-pound net minder has appeared in 26 NHL games with Anaheim, recording a 16-8-0 record with 2 shutouts and a 2.45 GAA. A native of Pittsburgh, PA, Gibson was drafted by Anaheim in the second round (39th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft.
Mueller, 29 (3/6/86), has appeared in 16 games with San Diego this season, collecting 4-10=14 points with 22 PIM. The 5-11, 210-pound center ranks second among team leaders in points and has 3-5=8 points in his last seven games. A native of West Seneca, NY, Mueller has appeared in 53 career NHL games, recording 3-7=10 points. A veteran of 463 career AHL games, Mueller hit the 300-point mark with his fourth goal of the season on Nov. 21 at Milwaukee.
Sgarbossa, 23 (7/25/92), was recalled by Anaheim on Nov. 14 but did not appear in any games with the club. The 6-0, 186-pound center appeared in 12 games with San Diego prior to being recalled, collecting 2-6=8 points with a +4 rating and 16 PIM. A native of Campbellville, Ontario, Sgarbossa has appeared in 178 career AHL games, collecting 36-74=110 points and 207 PIM.
O'Brien, 32 (8/9/83), was recalled by Anaheim on Nov. 21 but did not appear in that night's contest at Tampa Bay. A veteran of 537 NHL games, O'Brien has appeared in 14 contests with San Diego this season, collecting two assists (0-2=2) with 35 PIM. The 6-3, 230-pound defenseman has collected 22-59=81 points with 507 PIM in 173 career AHL games.
Faragher, 25 (7/3/90), ranked second in wins among ECHL goaltenders at the time of his recall. The 6-2, 200-pound, Fort Frances, Ontario native has appeared in 11 games with Utah this season, recording a 2.15 goals-against-average (GAA) and .928 save-percentage (SV%).
Taker, 25 (2/12/90), leads team defensemen in PIM while recording 1-3=4 points in 16 contests with Utah. The 6-4, 209-pound blueliner has gone scoreless in nine career AHL games.
Walters, 24 (7/30/91), has collected 5-9=14 points in 15 contests with Utah this season. The 5-11, 190-pound forward has recorded 2-8=10 points in 31 career AHL games.
Bonis, 26 (2/5/89), has appeared in 14 games with Toledo this season, recording 3-4=7 points with six PIM. The 5-11, 185-pound winger has dressed in 12 career AHL games, collecting 1-1=2 points with 2 PIM.
