Tampa Bay Lightning Recall Defenseman Luke Witkowski from Syracuse Crunch

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled defenseman Luke Witkowski from the Syracuse Crunch today, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced.

Witkowski, 25, has played in two games with the Lightning this season, recording four penalty minutes. He made his season-debut with the Bolts last Thursday night against the New York Rangers in the Lightning's 2-1 victory. Witkowski has skated in 18 career NHL games, all with the Lightning over the past two seasons, registering 19 penalty minutes.

The 6-foot-2, 214-pound defenseman has skated in 13 games with the Crunch this season, recording four assists and six penalty minutes. The Holland, Michigan, native ranks tied for second among Syracuse defensemen for assists. Witkowski has appeared in 141 career AHL games, all with the Crunch over four seasons, posting four goals and 24 points.
