
Admirals Wrap up Regular Season on the Road

NORFOLK, Va. - Last week, the Norfolk Admirals clinched the Macgregor Kilpatrick Trophy as the American Hockey League's regular season points championship for the first time in franchise history. Tonight, the Admirals commence a three-game, three-night set of road games to conclude the regular season before the 2012 Calder Cup Playoffs begin next week.
With three victories last week, the Admirals stretched their winning streak to 25 games. On Tuesday night, Mark Barberio captured the game-winning goal and Dustin Tokarski made 25 saves as the Admirals defeated the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, 2-1. On Friday night, a pair of third period goals and 27 saves by Jaroslav Janus led the Admirals to a 3-1 victory over the Binghamton Senators. In the home finale on Saturday night, Tokarski made 30 saves and Norfolk scored a trio of third period goals as they defeated the Senators, 4-1.
The Admirals close out the 2011-12 regular season this weekend with a three-game, three-night road trip in New York. Tonight, the Admirals visit the Albany Devils before squaring off once again with the Senators tomorrow night. The Admirals wrap up the regular season on Sunday afternoon in Adirondack against the Phantoms.
STANDINGS UPDATE
The Admirals (52-18-1-2, 107 points in 73 games) have clinched the best record in the American Hockey League this season, ensuring home ice advantage throughout the Calder Cup Playoffs. They still do not know opponent for the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals or the schedule for the first round of the playoffs.

Eight teams in each conference shall qualify for the 2012 Calder Cup Playoffs. Following the conclusion of each team's 76-game regular season, the three division winners in each conference will be seeded first through third (in order of regular-season points) and the next five best teams (in order of regular-season points) will be seeded fourth through eighth.

ADMIRALS' LOG
- With a victory on Friday night, the Admirals clinched the franchise's first Macgregor Kilpatrick title, awarded to the regular season points champion. The title gives the Admirals home ice advantage throughout the playoffs.
- Admirals have now won 25 games in a row, the longest streak for any active professional league in North American hockey history. Norfolk has not lost since Feb. 5th - a 4-2 defeat in Springfield.
- Norfolk extended their regulation winning streak to 19 games, a record for active professional hockey leagues in North America. The Admirals have won 24 of 25 games during the winning streak in regulation and only one game in a shootout (Feb. 18 vs. Syracuse).
- The Admirals set a new franchise record with their 15th consecutive victory on home ice and finished with an AHL-best record of 27-9-1-1 on home ice this season.
- Saturday night's announced crowd of 8,699 was the third sellout at Norfolk Scope Arena during the 2011-12 season. The Admirals averaged over 5,000 fans in attendance for the first time in the twelve-year AHL Admirals history (5,119) and also surpasses the 190,000 attendance plateau for the first time in AHL Admirals history (194,521), despite playing just 38 games on home ice.
- Saturday night's contest was the ninth time Norfolk has claimed a victory while entering the third period trailing or tied during the 25-game winning streak.
- For the first time since 2006-07, Norfolk boasts two 30-goal scorers in Tyler Johnson (30) and Cory Conacher (34). The last pair of Admirals to accomplish that feat were Troy Brouwer (41) and Brandon Bochenski (33) in 2006-07.
- Tyler Johnson leads the Admirals with 16 goals and 39 points during the 25-game winning streak, posting at least one point in 21 of 25 games of the streak and posting multiple points in 14 of the 25 games.
- Trevor Smith continued his success against Binghamton with his goal tonight, giving him seven goals and 13 points in six games against the Senators for the season.
- With a pair of assists on Saturday night, r ookie Alex Killorn registered his first professional multi-point performance in just his seventh game as a pro.

Ticket prices for the first round of the Calder Cup Playoffs are $21.50 for Gold, $18.50 for Red and $16.50 for White. Fans receive a discount when purchasing playoff tickets in advance of the day of the game, with $18 tickets for Gold, $15 tickets for Red and $13 tickets for White.

FLORIDA EVERBLADES UPDATE
Last Friday night, the Florida Everblades capped off a three-game sweep of the Greenville Road Warriors with a 3-2 in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals at the Bi-Lo Center Friday night. Former Admirals Kevin Quick (3GP, 1A, +1, 2 shots, Norfolk contract), Charles Landry (3P, 1 A, +2, Tampa Bay contract) and Sebastian Piche (3GP, 1G, 2A, +2, 15 shots, Tampa Bay contract) all skated for the Everblades during the three-game series. The Everblades begin their second round playoff series tonight, as they visit the Elmira Jackals at 7:05 p.m.
