Crunch Suffer Setback in Rochester

Rochester, NY (April 13, 2012) - The Crunch fell to the Rochester Americans 5-1 tonight at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester.

With tonight's loss the Crunch fall to eight place in the Eastern Conference. They sit one point behind seventh place Portland and one point ahead of ninth place Manchester, with two regular season games remaining.

The Americans took a 1-0 lead with 8:27 to play in the opening frame. Colin Stuart beat Crunch netminder Igor Bobkov from the right side seconds after the Crunch killed a Marcus Foligno hooking penalty. Shots in the first period were 11 to 10 in favor of the Americans.

Rochester extended their lead with a goal from Foligno at the 7:10 mark of the second period. Foligno found the back of Bobkov's net seconds after the Crunch killed an Americans power play. Rochester right wing Evan Rankin quickly made the score 3-0 with a power-play tally at the 8:35 mark of the period. Then, Foligno scored his second goal of the night to send the Crunch into the second intermission chasing a 4-0 deficit.

At the 13:47 mark of the third Rochester's Nick Crawford added a power-play goal to make it 5-0.The Crunch got on the board thanks to Mark Bell who scored the Crunch's lone goal with 5:04 to play in regulation.

The Crunch will take on the sixth place Connecticut Whale Saturday April 14 at the War Memorial Arena.
