St. John's IceCaps News Release

The St. John's IceCaps picked up their 23rd road win of the season in a tidy 3-1 victory over the Worcester Sharks Friday night at the DCU Center.

Travis Ramsey and Jason King scored second period goals and John Albert added the empty-netter for St. John's (43-23-5-3), which officially clinches second place in the Eastern Conference with two games left to play. Eddie Pasquale stopped 28-of-29 shots for his third consecutive win and 23rd overall.

After a scoreless first period, the IceCaps got on the board at 6:04 of the second with help from an unlikely source. Aaron Gagnon played the puck back to the point to Ramsey, who fired a slapshot that beat Sharks goaltender Harri Sateri through the five-hole for just his fourth goal of the season and a 1-0 St. John's lead.

The Sharks drew even at 11:32 of the middle frame on an even strength goal by Ben Guite, his fourth of the season.

St. John's pulled ahead once again 2:09 later after forcing a turnover deep in Sharks territory. Gagnon got in on the act for a second time, getting the puck to King who came out from the corner and fired a spinning wrister past Sateri for his team-leading 22nd of the season.

The IceCaps took the 2-1 lead into the third period, where they clamped down to hang on for the two points. Albert's empty net goal at 19:35 sealed the deal.

The IceCaps travel to Springfield to face the Falcons Saturday before wrapping up the regular season Sunday afternoon in Manchester against the Monarchs.

Catch all the action with play-by-play broadcaster Brian Rogers at www.stjohnsicecaps.com and on 930AM This Is Newfoundland Labrador. Game time Saturday is set for 8:30 p.m., while Sunday's contest begins at 4:30 p.m. (all times Newfoundland). Pregame show starts 30 minutes before puck drop.
