Since the 1970's, Cheap Trick has been blending elements of metal, pop and punk. Being one of the most covered bands of all time, it's not surprising that their songs are still all over the radio today. Originally from Rockford, IL, Cheap Trick released their first album in 1969 following up with their next big album release in 1977, In Color. This record featured the hit song, "ËI Want You To Want Me' which worked its way up to #7 on the U.S charts. In Color, which received rave reviews from Rolling Stone Magazine, went on to be certified gold platinum.
Their next big release was their Heaven Tonight album, which featured well-known songs, "ËSurrender' and "ËHeaven Tonight' both of which cracked the Top 100 on the US Billboard Charts. The album itself made it to 48 on the U.S Billboard 200 and achieved a gold record award in 1979 and went platinum in 1995.
"ËThe Flame' was released in 1988 on the Lap of Luxury album and went on to become their most successful single, hitting number one on the charts in three different countries. After "ËThe Flame' topped the charts a cover of Elvis Presley's "ËDon't Be Cruel' made it all the way up to #4. Lap of Luxury went on to become their fourth platinum album and was their second most successful album making it to #16 on the Billboard 200 chart, trailing only Dream Police which went all the way up to #6.
During Cheap Trick's rise they have successfully released albums which lead them to 40 gold and platinum record awards and over 20 million records sold. They've released more than 29 sound tracks and produced the theme song to That 70's Show. Cheap Trick has performed more than 5,000 times and has done shows alongside well-known bands like Def Leppard, AC/DC and Queen.
