Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI - In a spirited affair that featured 104 penalty minutes on 34 infractions the Milwaukee Admirals topped the Grand Rapids Griffins by a final score of 5-2 Friday night at the Bradley Center. The win was the eighth straight at home for Milwaukee, a feat they have not accomplished since January 23 to February 24, 1989, the first year at the BC.
The Admirals jumped on the Griffins early in the game, registering three first period goals and sending starting goaltender Drew MacIntyre to an early exit just 13:56 into the game. Brandon Segal started the scoring at the 5:03 mark of the first, before Rich Peverley and Darren Haydar each notched a power play tally to give Milwaukee all the offense they would need.
The second period saw the two squads trade even-strength goals in spite of the fact that there were 48 penalty minutes in the stanza. Haydar picked up his second goal of the night for Milwaukee at the 9:53 mark of the period.
Haydar had three points on the night (2g-1a) while Libor Pivko posted three assists to pace the Milwaukee offense. Pekka Rinne saved 27 of 29 shots to improve his record 9-6-1 on the season.
The Admirals are back in action tomorrow night when they travel to Peoria to take on the Rivermen at 7 pm. The next Ads home game will be next Friday night at 7:00 pm versus the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights.
