NORFOLK - Four second-period goals were the undoing of the Norfolk Admirals (10-19-1-2), as they fell to the Philadelphia Phantoms (21-8-1-0) 6-3 on Thursday night at Norfolk Scope Arena. The Admirals have now lost six straight games.

The Admirals started out well in a penalty-filled opening period. While skating on a five-on-three power play, Justin Keller accepted a pass from David Schneider in the slot. He sent a wrist shot from the left hash marks that went under the left arm of Phantoms netminder Scott Munroe at 5:32.

The Phantoms struck back six minutes later as a Norfolk five-on-three disadvantage expired. Steve Downie found a loose puck from a goalmouth scramble and swiped it by Norfolk netminder Jonathan Boutin 11:50.

The second stanza also started well with another Norfolk power play goal. Adam Henrich attempted a cross-crease pass from the bottom of the right circle that caromed off a Philadelphia defender and into the net at 1:01.

However, the Phantoms controlled the remainder of the second period. Thirty-three seconds after Henrich's lead tally, Triston Grant evened the score with a slap shot from just inside the blue line on the left boards that skimmed off Boutin's glove and into the net at 1:34.

Downie struck for his second goal midway through the second period, as he collected his own rebound at the bottom of the right circle and lifted a shot over Boutin's glove hand at 8:53.

Philadelphia scored their fourth goal after Grant prevented an Admirals clearing attempt from crossing the blue line. Grant sent a shot from the point that Darroll Powe tipped past Boutin at 10:15.

Jesse Boulerice's wrist shot from the right faceoff dot eluded Boutin at 18:30 as the Phantoms took a 5-2 lead into the final frame.

The teams swapped tallies in the final frame. Pete Zingoni netted Philadelphia's sixth goal at 9:56. Norm Milley netted his eighth goal of the season at 15:44 to close out scoring.

Jonathan Boutin (23 shots, 18 saves) suffered the loss through the first two periods of play. Ryan Munce (10 shots, 9 saves) entered in the third period and did not record a decision. Scott Munroe (26 shots, 23 saves) picked up the victory.

Norfolk was 2-7 on the power play. Philadelphia was 1-5.

The Admirals return to the ice tomorrow night at Scope versus the Hershey Bears. The puck drops at 7:15 p.m.
