Admirals Blanked by Houston

Houston, TX- Darcy Kuemper stopped 33 shots to lead the Houston Aeros past the Milwaukee Admirals 4-0 Saturday in Houston, TX.

The Admirals finished the road trip with a 1-3-0-0 record and were shut out twice.

Milwaukee outshot the Aeros 33-28. Kuemper stopped 16 Milwaukee shots in the third period. The Admirals finished 0-6 on the power play.

The Aeros struck first when Mikael Granlund fed a pass from behind Milwaukee's net to Charlie Coyle. Coyle dribbled a quick shot into the net for his fourth goal of the season at 10:46 of the first period.

Houston stretched the lead with a goal by defenseman Brian Connelly. Connelly's shot from the left point eluded Smith while Aeros forward Nick Palmieri was setting a screen. The 2-0 lead came with 1:22 left in the first period.

Coyle scored his second goal of the game at 4:54 of the third period with a wrap-around goal to give the Aeros a 3-0 lead.

Johan Larsson finished the scoring when he swooped from the right wing across the crease and lifted a shot underneath the crossbar for his first of the season at 15:33 of the third period.

The Admirals next contest will be at home on October 31st against the Charlotte Checkers.
