Adirondack Frostbite News Release

PORT HURON, MI -- The Adirondack Frostbite fell to 3-1-0 on the season, losing to the Port Huron Flags 5-3 on Friday night at McMorran Arena

After Port Huron scored first 2:29 into the contest, the Frostbite power play went to work just 51 seconds later to tie the game. Hugo Belanger's shot from the right point was deflected by Kevin Watters at the far post for his league-leading sixth goal of the season.

But, the Flags scored twice late in the opening period, including a shorthanded goal from Ryan Markham, to take a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes.

Following a scoreless second period, Adirondack pulled within one 2:55 into the final period, scoring another power-play tally. Belanger's slap shot from the center point eluded Flags' goaltender Jeremy Symington for his third goal of the season.

Port Huron retook a two-goal lead just 34 seconds later. Aaron Brand skated the puck across the Frostbite blue line, and dropped a pass to Brian Felsner, who beat Derek Gustafson from the left-wing circle for his first goal of the season.

Things looked bleak for the Frostbite when Lyon Porter picked up a roughing penalty with just 2:45 left. But, Adirondack pulled Gustafson, and tallied a shorthanded goal with 1:07 left off of the stick of Blake Stewart.

Adirondack would get no closer, as Trevor Edwards sealed the win for Port Huron, tallying an empty-net goal with 12.7 seconds left.

The Frostbite conclude their two-game road trip on Saturday, taking on the Flint Generals at 7:35 p.m. Catch all of the action on WCKM 98.5 starting with the pre-game show at 7:15.
