Adams Powers Naturals to Comeback Win

Springdale, AR - Two Lane Adams home runs powered the Northwest Arkansas Naturals to a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over the Arkansas Travelers on Saturday night at Arvest Ballpark.

With the game tied 2-2 in the eighth, Adams launched his second blast of the night into the party area over the left field fence off LHP Chris O'Grady (L, 0-2) to put the Naturals up for the first time.

Adams' first home run came off starter LHP Nate Smith in the third with the Naturals trailing 2-0.

Arkansas scored a run in the first on a RF Blake Gailen two-out, two-strike RBI single, and 1B Brian Hernandez' third home run of the season put the Travs up 2-0 in the third.

Hernandez has six RBIs in the last two games to increase his league-leading total to 44 on the season, eight more than any other player.

Smith took a no-decision with 6.2 innings of work. Smith allowed two runs on five hits with no walks and one strikeout.

RHP Matt Murray (W, 5-1) worked five brilliant scoreless innings in relief of starter RHP Miguel Almonte and certainly deserved the victory. Murray allowed just two hits with no walks and three strikeouts.

Gailen finished 2-for-4 and had the lone multi-hit game for Arkansas.

With the loss, the Travs fell to 4.5 games behind the Naturals in the Texas League North Division. The two teams will square off in game two of the four-game series on Sunday. First pitch at Arvest Ballpark is scheduled for 2:05 p.m.
