Toledo Mud Hens News Release

The Mud Hens got back to their winning ways on Tuesday night in their series opener with the Pawtucket Red Sox, winning 8-3. Toledo starter Adam Wilk dominated the Pawtucket line-up, throwing seven innings giving up just one run and three hits.

First baseman Ryan Strieby knocked in three RBI while Justin Henry went 4-for-5 from the plate with a RBI. The eight runs are most for Toledo since their 8-3 win over Columbus on April 22th.

Doug Mathis started on the mound for the Red Sox, working five innings giving up five earned runs on eight hits.

The Hens broke open the game in the bottom of the third inning, after already leading 2-0. After a single from Strieby that scored Jerad Head, Eric Patterson smacked a single to right to score Matt Young and stretch the lead to 4-0.

Catcher Omir Santos stepped in and delivered the third RBI single of the inning for Toledo, giving the Hens pitching staff plenty of elbowroom.

The Hens added one more in the fourth and two in the eighth to counter a two-run rally from the Red Sox.

Rob Waite and Chris Bootcheck came in on relief for Wilk and combined for two innings, giving up two runs and two hits with one strikeout.

The Hens and Red Sox play game two of their series on Wednesday night at Fifth Third Field with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

Game Notes

Doug Fister will make his debut for the Hens in a rehab start on Wednesday night.

The 8-3 victory ends a three game skid for Toledo.

The Mud Hens are 319-12 when taking a lead into the ninth inning at Fifth Third Field.
