Norfolk Tides News Release

Norfolk left a season-high 15 men on base as they fell to the Indianapolis Indians 6-4 Tuesday night at Harbor Park.

The Tides had 11 hits and drew five walks in the contest, but left at least two batters on base in seven of the nine innings. After leaving 14 men on base in Monday's win over Louisville, the Tides now have 29 men left on base over the last two contests.

Jai Miller led Norfolk's offense with three hits and a walk, and he launched a two-run homer in the fourth inning. Luis Exposito, Ryan Adams and Blake Davis also had two hits apiece.

Chris Tillman (2-3) suffered the loss, as he allowed four runs on eight hits in 5.1 innings. Tillman walked three and struck out four, throwing 58 of his 93 pitches for strikes.

Stu Pomeranz was very impressive in relief of Tillman, as he set down eight of the nine batters he faced - six by strikeout. Pomeranz has now struck out nine batters without allowing a hit in his first 3.2 innings at the Triple-A level.

Jordy Mercer had three hits to lead Indianapolis' offense, while Starling Marte, Jeff Clement and Jose Morales each added two runs batted in.

Daniel McCutchen (2-1) earned the win for the Tribe with 2.1 scoreless innings of relief.

The two clubs will continue their four-game set on Wednesday night, with first pitch slated for 7:15. Dana Eveland (2-1, 2.66) will take the hill for Norfolk against left-hander Jo-Jo Reyes (3-0, 3.18).
