IL Enjoys Second-Highest April Attendance in a Decade

May 1, 2012 - International League (IL1) News Release

With the first calendar month of the 2012 season in the books, the International League is excited to announce its attendance of 857,573 is the second-highest April total for the League in the past ten years. The IL led the minors during the season's first month by averaging 5,359 fans per game.

It was clear from the very beginning that International League fans were anxious for baseball to return in 2012. The Toledo Mud Hens set a Fifth Third Field single-game attendance record on Opening Day when 13,227 fans packed the stadium to create the largest of its 298 all-time sell-out crowds. Victory Field in Indianapolis established a new Opening Day attendance record on April 13 as 14,073 were on hand to see the Indians earn a walk-off win.

Over the past decade, only one other time has the International League drawn more than 850,000 fans in April. That came during the League's all-time record setting campaign of 2008, when over a million fans in April set the table for a total annual attendance of 7,132,296.
