
Adam Bighill Earns Double Nomination as Team Awards Announced

(Vancouver) BC Lions linebacker Adam Bighill will be a busy man this week as the third-year Leo not only prepares for the club's final regular season game against the Calgary Stampeders on Friday, but an off-field campaign as the Lions' nominee as Most Outstanding Player and a unanimous selection as the team's Most Outstanding Defensive Player.
Bighill 's double nomination headlines team award winners announced by the CFL this morning. Also included in the honour roll were Jovan Olafioye as Most Outstanding Lineman, Andrew Harris as Most Outstanding Canadian, Tim Brown as Most Outstanding Special Teams Player and SJ Haidara as Most Outstanding Rookie.
Currently leading the West Division in tackles, this is Bighill's second consecutive team nomination in the Defensive Player category and first as the club's Outstanding Player.
Right tackle Jovan Olafioye makes it three years running as the club's nominee as Outstanding Lineman. The Detroit native has not missed a game in four seasons with the club and has represented the West Division in the category for the past two seasons, taking home league-wide honours in 2012.
Andrew Harris represents the Lions as the club's Outstanding Canadian and currently sits third in rushing among all CFL running backs with 896 yards. This is Andrew's second consecutive selection in the category.
Tim Brown checks in with yet another standout season as the club's primary returner and pulls down his second consecutive Special Teams nomination. Currently leading the league with 1,221 kickoff return yards, Brown represented the West Division in the category last season.
SJ Haidara follows in a long line of notable first-year Leos who have taken home the hardware as Most Outstanding Rookie. Coming to the Leos from Laval University with the 12th overall selection in this year's CFL Draft, the crafty receiver and special teams ace has notched four receptions for 40 yards and posted 16 tackles.
The East and West Division winners for the 2013 Gibson's Finest CFL Player Awards will be announced on Thursday, November 7 at 9:00 am PT. The 2013 Gibson's Finest CFL Player Awards will be handed out on Thursday, November 21 at Conexus Centre in Regina.
The Lions take on the Calgary Stampeders in the club's final regular season home game on Friday, November 1st presented by Nissan.
