Reno Aces News Release
Reno, Nev.- Ryan Roberts made his presence felt in his second game as a Reno Ace, knocking in four runs in Reno's 10-4 rout of intra-division rival Sacramento Tuesday evening at Aces Ballpark.
Reno took the lead early with the help of a three-run second inning. With the score tied at 1-1, Trent Oeltjen plated Brandon Watson with an RBI-single. Later in the inning, Roberts knocked in Oeltjen and Abraham Nunez with an RBI single to make the score 4-1. Reno never looked back, adding three more runs in the sixth, and one each in the seventh and eighth to put the game out of reach.
The Aces got a strong outing from their starting pitcher for the second-straight night, as Bryan Augenstein (2-4) allowed only two runs and six hits over five innings of work. Reno reliever Jose Marte was nearly perfect over three innings or work, allowing only one hit and no runs to earn his third hold of the year.
Sacramento starter James Simmons (4-5) suffered the loss, giving up five earned runs in five innings of work.
In addition to Roberts' 2-hit, 4-RBI performance, Watson (2-for-3), Chris Roberson (2-for-3) and John Hester (2-for-5) all chipped in with multi-hit games.
Reno continues this nine-game homestand Wednesday evening, as the intra-state rival Las Vegas 51s visit Aces Ballpark in the continuation of the inaugural Silver State Diamond Challenge. The SSDC is a best-of-16 series between Nevada's two Triple-A teams, with the loser's mayor having to wear the opposing team's jersey for a complete day of business, including a City Council meeting.
Wednesday's game will feature Reno RHP Billy Buckner (3-2, 3.41 ERA) against Las Vegas LHP Fabio Castro (3-4, 4.04 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
