Reno Aces News Release

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Aces starting pitcher Wes Roemer struck out a season-high eight batters, but the Aces offense couldn't break through in a 4-0 loss to Sacramento Wednesday night at Raley Field.

The Aces offense was held in check for the third-straight game in Sacramento, as it was held to just two hits. A night after scoring one run and stranding 16 men on base, the Aces could manage just five baserunners on the evening, as they were shut out for the sixth time this season.

Roemer (1-3) took the hard-luck loss for the Aces, allowing four runs in seven innings. Pitching in the seventh trailing just 1-0, Roemer's luck turned as the River Cats scored three runs in the frame without the benefit of an extra-base hit, extending the lead to 4-0. T.J. Beam tossed a scoreless eighth inning to keep the Aces close.

Kyle Middleton (3-5) earned the win for Sacramento, holding Reno to one hit in five innings of work. Two River Cats relievers combined to finish the game and complete the shutout.

Brandon Allen and Pedro Ciriaco singled for the Aces, who were held to a season-low two hits. The Aces had just two at-bats with runners in scoring position, and failed to convert either opportunity.

Reno and Sacramento conclude this four-game set Thursday night, when the Aces send RHP Bryan Augenstein (4-6, 5.59 ERA) to the hill against River Cats LHP John Halama (2-1, 3.51 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. PT from Raley Field, and all the action can be heard live in Reno on Fox Sports Radio 1450 AM.
