
Father's Day Celebration Highlights Nine-Game Homestand

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Beavers return to PGE Park Friday to begin a season-long, nine-game homestand which features giveaways such as a BBQ set presented by Les Schwab during the event-filled Father's Day celebration at PGE Park Sunday, and a Beavers Etch A Sketch presented by Intel as part of the Intel/Beavers Engineering Challenge Saturday night.
The weekend begins with Name Night at PGE Park Friday, with all Beavers fans with a first name of 'Michael' or 'Jennifer' receiving a free general admission ticket to the game against Tacoma. Michael and Jennifer were recognized as two of the most popular first names of the last 100 years, according to the Social Security Administration. Fans must show a valid ID at the PGE Park box office to receive their ticket.
The following night, the Beavers and Intel team up for the Intel/Beavers Engineering Challenge, where nine area high schools have been tasked with designing, engineering and building a unique device to enhance the fan experience through audio, image projection or movement. The winning device, as chosen by a panel of Intel employees and engineers, will be showcased during the game. In addition, Intel and the Beavers are giving away Etch A Sketches to the first 2,000 fans on Fred Meyer Super Giveaway Saturday. The original Etch A Sketch, which was invented in 1960, was recently named to the Century of Toys List, recognizing the 100 best toys from the 20th century.
On a fun-filled Sunday at PGE Park, the Beavers celebrate Father's Day presented by Les Schwab by turning over the field before the 2:05 p.m. game against Tacoma to dads and their kids with 'Play Catch with Papa' presented by Papa Murphy's. The first 250 fathers on the field will receive a coupon for one free cheesy bread, cinnamon wheel or cookie dough courtesy of Papa Murphy's. The first 2,000 men 18 and older will get BBQ sets, courtesy of Les Schwab. After the game, 10 fathers selected through a Beavers online contest will earn the opportunity to take batting practice on the field.
The homestand continues Monday night as the Beavers host Tacoma on Make A Difference Monday. Fans who donate non-perishable foods through the Sunshine Division at PGE Park will receive a Buy-One, Get-One-Free coupon for tickets to the game.
Win-Win Wednesday hits PGE Park for a doubleheader with the Fresno Grizzlies on Wednesday, June 23. In addition to watching two games for the price of one, fans will receive vouchers good for a ticket to an upcoming home game as well as a Tropical Smoothie coupon if the Beavers come away victorious in either game.
Tickets for the Beavers' series against the Tacoma Rainiers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, and the Fresno Grizzlies, the Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, are available through the PGE Park box office, area Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at (800) 745-3000. Saturday, June 19 Beavers Etch A Sketches presented by Intel / Fred Meyer Super Giveaway Saturday - Beavers vs. Tacoma - 7:05 p.m. As part of a Fred Meyer Super Giveaway Saturday, fans can take home the Beavers' version of one of the more memorable toys of the 20th century. The first 2,000 fans through the gates when the Beavers face the rival Rainiers will receive a one-of-a-kind Beavers Etch A Sketch, courtesy of Intel. The Beavers/Intel Engineering Challenge, an engineering competition between nine area high schools, will be held before the game.
Sunday, June 20 Father's Day presented by Les Schwab / Kids Sunday - Beavers vs. Tacoma - 2:05 p.m. One of the biggest games of the year is Sunday, when PGE Park hosts Father's Day presented by Les Schwab. On a Kids Sunday, kids and dads can 'Play Catch with Papa' before the game, thanks to Papa Murphy's. With barbecue season right around the corner, the first 2,000 men 18 and older at the game will get a BBQ set presented by Les Schwab. Stick around after the Beavers-Rainiers showdown to watch 10 lucky fathers take batting practice on the field. Enter your own father for a chance to take a swing in the PGE Park batter's box through an online contest at www.portlandbeavers.com. Prior to the first pitch, all kids 12 and under can take advantage of the Beavers' Kids-Eat-Free plan, play catch on the field and get autographs from Beavers players. As with every Kids Sunday, kids can run the bases after the game.
Monday, June 21 Make-A-Difference Monday - Beavers vs. Tacoma - 7:05 p.m. The Mariners' Tacoma affiliate visits PGE Park for the eighth and final time this season on a Make A Difference Monday, televised live on FSN. The Sunshine Division will be on-hand to collect non-perishable food items at the park. Anyone who donates to the cause will receive a coupon good for a free ticket of equal or lesser value with the purchase of one ticket.
Tuesday, June 22 Fred Meyer $4 Tuesday - Beavers vs. Fresno - 7:05 p.m. Portland opens a four-game series with the PCL-leading Fresno Grizzlies on a Fred Meyer $4 Tuesday. Throughout the day, 200 general admission tickets will be available for $4 through the PGE Park box office and Ticketmaster outlets at local Fred Meyer locations.
Wednesday, June 23 Win-Win Wednesday - Beavers vs. Fresno - 5 p.m. doubleheader Not only is it a Win-Win Wednesday at PGE Park, but fans will be able to watch two games for the price of one. Due to a rainout back in April, the Beavers and Grizzlies will square off in a doubleheader consisting of two, seven-inning games, starting at 5 p.m. Also, a Beavers win in either game means fans will be treated to a voucher to nearby Tropical Smoothie.
Thursday, June 24 Miller Lite Thursday - Beavers vs. Fresno - 7:05 p.m. The homestand continues with a Miller Lite Thursday game with Fresno televised live on FSN. New in 2010, Miller Lite Thursdays will feature local bands playing pre-game sets when the gates open at 6 p.m. Thursday's game will be preceded by a 6 p.m. concert in the Widmer Garden, featuring one of Portland's up-and-coming bands. As always, come enjoy the variety of Miller Lite Thursday specials prior to the first pitch, from 6-7 p.m. in the Widmer Garden.
Friday, June 25 'Portland Has Talent' Night - Beavers vs. Fresno - 7:05 p.m. A nine-game homestand comes to an end as the Beavers finish their season series with the Grizzlies on 'Portland Has Talent' Night. Some of the area's most gifted acts will be on display with performances both before and during the game. Make sure you arrive when the gates open at 6 p.m. so you do not miss any of the action. Friday's game is also another Zenner's $1 Menu Friday, featuring select menu items - Zenner's hot dogs, Sierra Springs water and Fudgesicle and Creamsicle treats - for only $1.
