Aces fall to Wranglers

The Alaska Aces scored the opening goal of the game on Saturday night, but the Las Vegas Wranglers scored four unanswered, handing the Aces their third straight loss in a 4-1 game from the Orleans Arena. The Aces fell to 21-12-2 on the year, and have dropped three straight in regulation for the first time this season. The Aces will look to bounce back, continuing their five-game trip on Sunday afternoon in Las Vegas. The Aces struck first when Maxime Tanguay scored on a power play at 10:12 to make it 1-0. But the lead was short-lived as Ryan Huddy answered for Las Vegas 47 seconds later to tie the game 1-1.

In the second period Blake Gallagher scored on a slap shot from the high slot at 8:41 to give the Wranglers their first lead of the night. The Wranglers then added two goals in the third period courtesy of Justin Bernhardt to wrap up the 4-1 win.

Gerald Coleman (16-9-1) made 28 saves on 31 shots for the win. Joe Fallon (10-7-1) earned the win, making 27 saves on 28 shots. The Aces power play went 1-5, while the Wranglers went 1-3. The Aces were outshot by the Wranglers 32-28 in the game.

The Aces continue their five-game road trip on Saturday with a rematch with the Las Vegas Wranglers. The game can be heard back in Anchorage on NewsTalk 750AM KFQD, beginning at 12:45pm AKST. The Aces will return home to host the Victoria Salmon Kings on Friday and Saturday, January 21st and 22nd.
