Reno Aces News Release
RENO, Nev.-Andy Tracy hit his fourth home run in three days for the Aces, but Reno fell into an early hole and couldn't dig its way out Sunday night, dropping an 11-5 decision to the Nashville Sounds in the series opener at Aces Ballpark.
Aces starter Wade Miley struggled for the first time in an Aces uniform, suffering his first-career Triple-A loss. Miley (3-1) surrendered six runs-five earned-on nine hits over six innings of work, despite recording six strikeouts and just one walk. The Sounds tacked on five insurance runs against the Aces bullpen to run away with the victory.
Tracy, who homered on Friday and hit two on Saturday, put the Aces on the scoreboard for the first time with a two-run shot in the first inning. The Sounds answered with five unanswered runs over the game's next two frames, though, to regain a lead it would not relinquish.
Nashville starter Frankie De La Cruz (7-6) picked-up the win, scattering five runs on six hits over 6.2 innings of work. De La Cruz walked five and struck out seven.
At the plate for Reno, Konrad Schmidt hit a solo homer in the seventh inning, his ninth of the season. Angel Berroa registered his eighth multi-hit effort in 13 games since joining the Aces with a 2-for-4 night at the dish.
The Aces and Sounds hit the second leg of this four-game set on Monday night at Aces Ballpark. RHP Barry Enright (8-3, 5.14 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while Nashville will counter with LHP Sam Narron (5-4, 4.30 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. PT.
Aces playoff tickets will go on-sale August 8, while tickets for regular season home games are available today at RenoAces.com, the Aces Ballpark box office or by phone at (775) 334-7000. Discounted group tickets for your next event are also available.
